Seeing the Word is a program of guided reflection that makes it possible to pray with images from The Saint John's Bible - the first handwritten and illuminated Bible commissioned by a Benedictine Abbey in more than 500 years.
This passage sets the stage for Mark, and is important for understanding not only the Gospel but our own Christian lives. In Baptism of Jesus, we are called to reflect on both the beginning of Jesus' mission and the role of John the Baptist, who features prominently in the illumination.
